Our goal is to give you a relaxed, personal experience. Penny Monteath, who owns Waiata with her husband Hamish, is also a Marriage Celebrant and would be happy to marry you if you wish - or not. It is about you.
Rustic Wedding Venue
Waiata is our beautiful rural property, just outside Hanmer Springs. We have four hectares, studded with trees and full of intimate corners for your ceremony. Wherever you choose, you won't be far from our stunning mountain views! Waiata is for people who like to keep things simple and want to start their journey in a gorgeous rural environment.
Waiata is also available if you have your own celebrant in mind - using Penny is not compulsory!
Marriage Celebrant
Penny Monteath, who co-owns Waiata with her husband Hamish, is a registered Marriage Celebrant. Penny's warm and friendly manner, and her genuine desire to make your day special, have led to fantastic testimonials from her past couples. Penny not only marries people at Waiata, but also travels to other locations around Canterbury.

About us
Waiata is owned by Penny and Hamish Monteath. When Penny became a registered marriage celebrant, she saw the opportunity to use their beautiful property as a wedding ceremony venue.
